Snakehead Fritillaria
Sally's favourite flower.
Snakehead fritillaria, also known as Fritillaria meleagris, is a perennial flowering plant belonging to the Liliaceae family. It is commonly referred to by several other names, including snake's head, chess flower, frog-cup, guinea-hen flower, leper lily, Lazarus bell, chequered lily, and drooping tulip.
Fritillaria meleagris is native to Europe and parts of Asia, commonly found in damp meadows and along riverbanks. It prefers well-drained, moist soils and can thrive in both full sun and partial shade.
It's important to note that all parts of the Fritillaria meleagris plant are toxic if ingested, so care should be taken to keep it away from areas accessible to pets and small children.
The snakehead fritillaria is a fascinating and beautiful flower/plant that can add a unique touch to your wedding and event, in gardens and natural areas, by providing both aesthetic value and supporting biodiversity.
